Who do you think has more chances of winning: the human intuition or the Big data? This is a complicated question and more when we refer to awards of music. As you well know, November 15th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be delivered to the Grammy awards and we want to know in particular what will be the result among those who speak our language, that is to say, the Latin Grammy.
Well, YouTube has ventured to announce its individual winners and has done so, as you can imagine, using the analysis of the data. How? Analyzing the number of reproductions of each one of the candidates to receive the award, and attentive to the results:
- Record of the Year
“X” – Nicky Jam and J Balvin
- Song of the Year – Prize to the Composer
“Steal A Kiss” – Carlos Vives and Sebastian Yatra
- Best New Artist
- Best Fusion/Interpretation Urban – Singer
“My People” – J Balvin with Willy William ft Beyonce
- Best Urban Song
“Hard” – Daddy Yankee
- Best Rock Song
“The Call” – Leiva
- Best Song Alternative
“Badly” – Rosalia
- Best Tropical Song
“Marry Me” – Silvestre Dangond ft. Nicky Jam
- Best Song in the Regional Mexican – Prize to the Composer
“Probably” – Christian Nodal
- Best Music Video Short Version
“Sex” – Resident & Dillon Francis
To reach these conclusions, the popular video site has analyzed the data recorded between 1 November 2017 and 31 October 2018, an analysis in which we found that “X” of Nicky Jam and J Balvin accumulated 1,362,200,694 reproductions, or that which could be best song of the year according to YouTube, “Steal a kiss” by Carlos Vives and Sebastian Yatra sum 968,061,332 in that period.
This is the nineteenth edition of the contest and the Latin Recording Academy has announced the stellar participation of Marc Anthony, Will Smith and ‘Bud Bunny’ playing together ‘Is rich’. How should YouTube in their predictions? In very little we leave doubts.
