Design, display and durability

The Galaxy S20 Plus is a phone beautiful. Like its predecessors, the S20 Plus comes with a stylish chassis in glass with rounded edges that curve gently in the body. Almost the entire front is screen, with a single hole for the camera selfie. The Pixel 4 XL has reduced the frames with respect to previous models, but maintains the notch superior to lens selfie and sensors. It would be difficult to find someone who will say what Pixel is the phone more attractive in the market.

The S20 Plus is the advantage on the Pixel 4 XL in the size of screen with 6,7 inches. The sharpness should be similar, although the Pixel takes a slight advantage in terms of pixels per inch. If the Pixel above would have had an advantage thanks to its screen of 90Hz, Samsung has increased their screen technology once more, and refresh rate of 120Hz of the screen S20 Plus ends with that advantage.

And what in regards to the durability? The differences are minimal in this section: both phones come with a chassis of glass, which makes them equally sensitive to scratches, and both have the classification IP68 resistance to dust and water, but the team of Samsung wins in this section.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

Performance, battery life and charging

Galaxy S20 en la mano

The Galaxy S20 Plus, to be more modern, equipped with the latest processor Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 865. Despite the fact that the Snapdragon 855 Pixel 4 XL offers a great performance, there is no doubt that the Snapdragon 865 is the fastest and more powerful of the two. This new processor is bind 12 GB of RAM, double that of the 6 GB available in the Pixel 4 XL. The storage is similar: the Pixel 4 XL reached a maximum of 128 GB of storage, no MicroSD card slot, while the S20 Plus also has 128 Gb as standard, but can be expanded to 512 GB of storage with MicroSD cards up to reach 1 TB.

If the Pixel 4 XL has an Achilles ‘ heel, is the size of the battery: up to 3,700 mAh is not enough, and means that the phone barely last a working day with an average use. We have not yet tested the battery in the S20 Plus, but its capacity of 4500 mAh is more in line with the size you’d expect from a powerful flagship phone. We are sure that the battery for the S20 Plus it will last longer than the Pixel 4 XL. The compatibility with the wireless charging and support for fast charging are not able to have the Pixel 4 XL will reach the level of the S20 Plus.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

Price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is available from the 6 of march of 2020. As you know, is not cheap, as prices start from $1,200 dollars. The Pixel 4 XL, for your part, you can buy ready-and at a price of $ 899 dollars for the model of 64GB.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

The Google Pixel 4 XL is a great opponent and has an exceptional camera, a software stylish and specifications powerful, but it has some limitations, and these weaknesses are areas where the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus it really stands out. With a design absolutely dazzling without bezel and a battery huge, the Galaxy S20 Plus has the substance to become one of the winners of 2020. With the latest Snapdragon processor 865, a versatile camera four lenses and the experience 5G full, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is the winner overall in this face-to-face, even if it is several hundred dollars more expensive.

Of course, this does not mean it’s not worthwhile to buy the Pixel 4 XL. On the contrary: if you love the pure experience of Android and want an amazing camera, without worrying too much the cosmetic portion or the smaller battery, then it is worthwhile considering the great flagship of Google.
