Review of the phone Huawei Mate 30 Pro
“Its design, its camera and battery fall in love, but they are not sufficient claims for its price, taking into account all the apps that are not available.”
- Screen spectacular
- Long battery life
- Camera exceptional
- Sleek, minimalist design
- Huawei AppGallery without the most popular apps
- Without the services of Google
Huawei Mate 30 Pro is the first phone of the chinese company that does not have the traditional applications of Google in the Android phones, after the Department of Commerce of the united States to include the company in a black list that limits the access of the chinese company to the american technology. If it had not happened, we would have crowned as the king of 2019. And in many respects queen, but the extent of Trump in this trade war will conditions, and the device leaves us feeling bittersweet.
A screen-immersive spectacular
The appearance of Huawei P30 Pro we love above all for its curved shapes that give it slenderness and excellent ergonomics. With the Mate 30 the Pro the multinational is exceeded: a telephone is just as handy and light, despite the fact that now the corners are not so rounded. Its vertices reminds a bit of the Sony Xperia but at the same time not lose the essence of the cellular from Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro.
In design, this model draws attention to its OLED screen (6.53 inches), extended to the own side edges of the phone (Huawei called ultracurva). Gives the phone a unique appearance and an immersive sensation. This attraction also contribute to a sharpness and contrast are exceptional, (with a resolution 1,176 x 2,400 pixels and 409 pixels per inch). And, how not, the device is unlocked by putting a finger on it (and it has always worked well). The notch in this case houses not only the front-facing camera, also sensors of movement.
Another feature unique to this phone is the lack of buttons, both the physical and the virtual on the screen. You will find only a button on the right side of the phone to turn it off and turn it back on. To control the volume, just to give two taps with the finger on either side (perfect for lefties), and it appears the classic tab with the bell above it to mute the mobile. In our tests it has not always been activated to the first, despite the fact that it is an action a breeze. Although we continue to prefer the physical buttons, because it controls better.
It costs something more to get used to the absence of the virtual buttons on the screen: now interacts by sliding the fingertip upward from the bottom edge, something very simple, though it is a gesture to the strange beginning and it makes you feel algotorpe. But soon he learns, does not last long this feeling.
In the rear area features a stylish finish, bright and discreet, with no effects reflective. Not thrilled us in the black. We like much more how it looks in the model with the silver tone. What most of us have caught this back of the device is the design of the circular chamber, surrounded by and adorned with the ring, called The Halo. Out of the usual and makes it look like a photo camera conventional. That’s why we find it more successful that the square design of the iPhone 11 Pro or the Pixel 4.
Once upon a cell phone to a camera stuck
If in design Huawei has gone above and beyond with this mobile, your camera raises the level of the P30 Pro, which is very good. Back in the hands of Leica, this time brings out four objectives: a primary sensor of 40 megapixels with stabilizer of image (IOS); another ultra-wide-angle 40-megapixel camera, a telephoto lens with 8-megapixel sensor and a depth sensor for 3D ToF. The camera of the selfies photo with 32-megapixel camera and a depth sensor 3D. All you take some excellent photos, as you can see in the gallery images.
Proof also of that great work, especially in low-light conditions, is the score obtained in the tests of DxOMark: with 121 points leads the standings along with Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition (in Europe called My Note 10).
Although the zoom loses increases with respect to the P30 Pro with a zoom-in hybrid 5x optical and 3x, we are confident that this will not matter too much. The latest in video recording: ultra-slow motion to 7,680 fps (frames per second). Although it also introduces high quality video in low-light, video stabilization and recording in 4K with a wide angle.
Performance and battery the height of a high-end
Huawei Mate 30 the Pro debuts of the last processor of Huawei, the more powerful, Kirin 990, which works with artificial intelligence and enhances their ability to photo and video. This chip is complemented with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which are expandable with memory cards Nano SD Huawei of up to 256 GB, so you’re not likely to lack space for storing photos, videos, music and other content.
The phone has a battery of 4,500 mAh, a capacity which, united to the good management of the resources for the energy savings, you should give an autonomy to two days with normal use, but this can vary a lot depending on the use you give it. It also features fast load of 40W and wireless charging 27 W. In our tests, the phone has been loaded from 5 per cent to 50 per cent in twenty minutes (in this time it has warmed up considerably) and for fully an hour and a quarter.
Without Google services or popular apps that we need
As the phone does not come with the apps Google (Android only Open Sources), but with HMS (Huawei Mobile Services), instead of asking you to log in to your Google account, when you turn on the phone for the first time, it prompts you to do that same with the ID of Huawei.
To navigate you won’t find Chrome, but the browser itself Huawei. Through it you can access the Google search engine, to your Gmail account and other services the search giant offers online, such as Google Maps and YouTube. The user experience when accessing these sites through the apps installed on the phone is much more fluid and satisfying than without them, but via web browser it is possible to use various Google services with the Mate 30 the Pro.
However, you will not be able to download anything from the store Android, Play Store. To use applications, you must use Huawei’s AppGallery. In this shop of the manufacturer are a lot of apps, especially games, tools, stores, etc., But you will not find the most popular, those that are fully integrated into our day-to-day (and we do not know to live without them). For example, WhatsApp, Spotify, Netflix or Shazam, among many others.
The serial Matte 30 runs EMUI 10 (on the version of Android open source code), a redesigned interface that introduces the dark mode and nice color images on the screen Always-On-Display, among other changes.
The analysis of the Mate 30 the Pro leaves us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we are before a device is innovative in its design, both because of the attractive screen surround as for its elegant and original circular chamber. At the same time it is manageable and comfortable to use. And all this complemented with a photo camera, a performance and a battery life beast.
On the other hand, as an Android phone, you are missing the soul without the Play Store active, although it is feasible to use some of the apps and Google services through the browser of Huawei. What has caused more frustration is the inability to use the most common applications in our life. The good news is that, according to us has confirmed Huawei, right now they are in conversations all over the world with these popular applications not available (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc). The company expects to reach agreements with them and that users can download them from your store Huawei AppGallery.
In short, this cell gives you a lot of hardware, but little software. We give an outstanding in design, camera and performance, but suspended in apps by the far-fetched situation caused by the ban on Huawei.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro is marketed in Spain in the version of 8 GB and 256 GB for 1,099 euros. The phone is worth its price, but we find it too expensive given the lack of current software. For less money, Huawei P30 Pro is another telefonazo fully operational.
