Facebook could launch a camera that also transmits video via streaming

The importance of video in social platforms is undeniable, and Facebook has been trying to give solid steps for settling down with force in this area. Now, a report claims that the social network is developing a set-top box of a television equipped with a camera, that would allow to make video calls and transmissions.

The device, code-named ‘Ripley’, position Facebook to compete with your rivals by giving another option for people who enjoy programming and interaction from the comfort of your living room. As reported by Cheddar TV, the device would take advantage of the same technology incorporated in the recently released device video chat Portal.

Com, you will remember, earlier this month the social network released Portal and Portal Plus, two devices of video calls that were presented as “a way of facilitating the connection more regular with the most important people in your life, and that will make you feel as if you’re in the same room, even when you’re far away.”
