Despite the large number of leaks related to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, Google introduced its latest flagship phone today, as it does every year.
The Pixel and Pixel 3 are basically identical, and for this reason we will focus here on the Pixel 3XL, the phone is more expensive that launched Google today, for you to know everything. We were able to test the phone for a few minutes and we tell you what we have found up to now.
To begin with, the design of the Pixel 3 XL changed a little with respect to its predecessor, especially when we talk about the screen. Of the two versions, only the XL comes with the infamous ‘notch’ or indentation, something that most manufacturers have copied the iPhone.
The screens are different sizes, clearly. The Pixel 3 has a 5.5-inch and the 3 XL has 6.3 inches. Other than that, the specifications and technology inside the device are the same. They have the same technology on their cameras and both have the two front lens for selfies.
The exterior design is similar to the previous phone. Account with the volume buttons and power on the right side, the sensor footprint at the rear and, like the predecessor, the back is not coated entirely in glass, but only a strip at the top comes with this coating.
Also comes with two speakers to the front of the phone, one above and one below the screen so that there is a sound more enveloping. Speaking of the front, you’ll notice that the main change, in addition to the notch is that within this you will see the two camera lenses. Fortunately, we had an iPhone XS Max to compare and we noticed that the notch on the iPhone is larger in comparison with the Pixel 3XL, despite the fact that the notch of the latter is a little thicker.
Lifting the phone, we realize that, like his predecessor, this is not very heavy and feels in your hands is similar to the Pixel 2XL.
The camera of this phone is probably what has changed the most, but not at the expense of their hardware components, but more precisely by the software technology with the that comes this phone.
The rear camera continues to be of a single lens, which is going to contravene of what most manufacturers have done this year. Google continues to think that their software is enough, and go that yes it is. We were able to test the capabilities of the camera, both front and rear and really has improved quite a bit.
The wide-angle perspective, in addition to the possibility of using the portrait mode on selfies and be able to adjust the contrast level rear, as well as the approach of the same, shows that the capacities of the algorithms and software of Google remain the best in the market. And as pictures are worth a thousand words, here’s a sample of what you could get with this phone.
If there was something that called for screaming in this phone was the ability to be charged wirelessly. For now, it is a capacity that all phones flagship of all brands. For this reason, Google also announced the Pixel Booth, a base for charging wirelessly your phone.
The battery was something that Google did not mention. Has 3,430 mAh, which is more than enough to last with the phone charged all day.
And as in the previous models, Google removed the port for earphones of 3.5 mm and, therefore, Google includes in the box a pair of headphones with cable and USB port-C to not have to buy an adapter.
Soon we will update this note once we have used the phone more time.
