Review TV LG OLED 55CX6: analysis and opinion
“A mid-range premium with a excellent picture quality, better remote control and a careful design is acceptable.”
- Excellent remote control
- Image quality
- Operating system options
- Without HDR10+
With an increasingly competitive market, by the arrival of new rivals like TCL and Xiaomi –and maybe coming soon Huawei, Realme, and some manufacturer more— LG is one of the brands of reference in this business. Accumulate a lot of experience in manufacturing of panels OLED (currently is the only manufacturer that produces it). One of the great advantages of this technology is that it allows a thickness incredibly thin tvs, like the LG OLED 55CX6LA that, literally, is thinner than a mobile phone. Is this the model 4K a good buy? Keep reading to learn the answer to this question and our opinion.
A lot of screen, minimum bezel
With a size of 55 inches, the LG tv OLED 55CX6 not takes the award for “tv’s most elegant of the year” but it is nice. The extreme thinness of the panel, with virtually no bezels and a simple and unobtrusive give it a look premium suitable for any decorative style.
In the rear (on the bottom), has been integrated all the components, and therefore widens considerably, so that if what you hang on the wall will not be completely pasted, which should not pose a problem. Behind the screen, LG has opted for a finish that is dark gray in the polished metal, the same as that of the base. It looks refined, but with all the connections to the discovered, it is not a tv for those that have taken care of a lot of the aesthetic if not what are you going to put was glued to the wall. For connectivity, it comes with four HDMI, three USB 2.0, and headphone output.
The remote control Magic Remote, the usual signature, does not shine by its design. Manufactured in black plastic and with a considerable thickness, is not known for its elegance, rather out of place with the slender that is the tv. By its coarse in appearance you might think that accompanies a tv with a lower quality. However, this aesthetic so normal and boring, the pay off for their functionality.
A remote control that falls in love with
Under this appearance of a remote control either, it incorporates a technology that should integrate the remote controls all the tvs on the market, for its speed and convenience to control the functions. For something is called Magic Remote. The experience is the same as the remote controls of the game consoles or the pointer of a PC: what you put on an option and with a click on the central wheel the action is executed. It’s that easy. When you enter the key of wifi or search content by words, this remote control avoids the tedious scrolling through the virtual keyboard with the classic arrows. You scroll through the menus at full speed.
In terms of buttons there will be nothing missing, it is very comprehensive, including direct access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and the voice assistant (that is compatible with the Google and Amazon). It is more, add some non-regular, as one to take screenshots (that is the one that puts AD/SAP).
The image quality you expect in an OLED
The LG tv OLED 55CX6LA mounted a panel 4K UHD, and is compatible with Dolby Vision and the majority of the formats HDR (not with HDR10+ is the most advanced). Offers very good image quality, especially when the contents are compatible with these formats, of course. It also supports the standards for gaming nVidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync , which optimise the capacity of response and fluency with video games. One of the novelties of 2020, with respect to the model of 2019, is the way Filmmaker, that will delight the most moviegoers: performs the necessary adjustments to play the movies and series respecting how they were shot in terms of frame rate, color… in Addition to this option, you have nine picture modes to choose from.
In audio (40 W) is compatible with Dolby Atmos if you want to ride it for a home theater with surround sound. Starting the listening experience with any tv to enjoy it more with a sound bar, this model offers a good sound without this plugin and we think that will satisfy most users. As in image, it is also possible to select from several audio modes, namely seven.
A simple interface and quick
The operating system of LG for tvs, WebOS, we love it, because its tools and functions, such as viewing multiple, image capture or recording of content (the latter by inserting a USB). In addition, with the remote control, you navigate the interface quickly. Proposes several actions to customize your experience. Among them, choose the position of the applications, add your favorite channels of YouTube, turn off the light Standy by and change the location of the label information of the channel and the size and speed of the red pointer in the form of a drop.
Although it does not reach the level of The Frame, the tv gives access to a gallery of art with different paintings or photo (classified by subjects) for use as a screen saver. The works and the frames are changing every few seconds and you can liven up your viewing experience with music. With a size of 55 inch and the picture quality of this model, the paintings and photos look spectacular.
This tv is very solvent in all of its sections. As a device of mid-range, in design stands out precisely for failing to highlight, with your panel, extra fine, a quality finish and a base that was simple, unobtrusive and robust. The OLED screen is striking in colors, level of detail and sharpness, especially with the content compatible with 4K and Dolby Vision.
Your simple software gives ease of use and general navigation, very agile, thanks also to its excellent remote control Magic Remote that makes it all very easy with your pointer.
The official price of the LG OLED 55CX6LA is 1,999 euros, a substantial amount. It’s worth it, it is a very good tv, but perhaps do not translate into a large difference in the viewing experience compared to the other tvs with a lower price. You can find televisions very worthy for a lot less money. Without leaving LG, for example, you have the option of the LG OLED C9 that is equal in size and design but does not bring the mode Filmmaker or some function more (probably dispensable for you), and you can now find it reduced by 1,300 euros.
For a similar price and the same size, other brands, you have, for example, the models: Samsung QLED TV Q95T 4K (QE55Q95TATXXC), Sony Bravia OLED AG8, Panasonic OLED TX-55HZ1000E and Philips OLED 4K HDR (55OLED854/12).
