Review of the phone Xiaomi Mi 10
“Not surprisingly, in most of its benefits, but comes off of the usual price.”
- Stylish design
- Good performance
- Camera versatile
- Without water resistance IP68
Two models make up the high-end Xiaomi after its official launch: My 10 and My 10 Pro, the two are identical in appearance and with some technical differences (in the camera, battery and load). Both compete with the best and with a price that deviates from the strategy that so good results it has provided to the chinese company. Xiaomi Mi 10 transits by the same way as their rivals: a 5G with look premium and a good camera.
A safe bet
In the same line of other high-end phones, Xiaomi Mi 10 is very similar in aesthetics and size to other high-end, as the Galaxy S20 Plus and the Huawei P40 Pro. The test drive that we have provided looks like these up in the color of grey. But, unlike these, the footprints are marked up quite a bit, as happens on most phones with a glossy finish and mirror effect. In design is going to play it safe, looks elegant and premium, and feels comfortable in the hand, both by their dimensions (162.6 x 74.8 mm x 8.96 mm) and weight (208 grams).
This device does not integrate the card slot on the side, is located on the bottom next to the USB port. And not in addition to the fingerprint reader on the right side, but that unlocks with the fingerprint on the AMOLED screen of 6.67 inches (2,340×1,080 FHD+) covered in Gorilla Glass 5 and a little curved on the sides. This does not show vivid colors as other phones, but more natural and without too much brightness. To protect eye health, has been certified by TUV Rheinland of light blue low. With a refresh rate of 90 Hz responds with a lot of speed and fluidity in the user experience. The house of selfies is perforated on the left side above.
Weapons expected to fight at this range
While it is not the smartphone more advanced in this series of Xiaomi, this model is not far behind in specifications, even though some are not the most cutting-edge. This is not the case of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 compatible with 5G, the best of this manufacturer. We refer to the 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, that provide a good complement to the processor, without note in the high range. These two features are also phones with mid-range (for example, Xiaomi Mi 9 or Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, Galaxy A80, realme 5 Pro or realme X2, among others).
For those looking for a sound experience dual, the device includes two speakers, one on the top and one at the bottom (next to the USB port-C). This creates a sound more immersive (especially noticeable when watching movies and series) compared to many other smartphones that just come with one.
This phone does not have the certification of water resistance IP68 rating that allows you to submerge it for 30 minutes without problems. Yes, withstands splashes (protection P2i Nano Coating), and accidental spills. So if it gets wet by rain or sweat, it should not be a problem.
In the section of the battery the same thing happens. Your ability is not the best on the market, it is in the 4,780 mAh and this gives plenty of room for an entire day with normal use to see two chapters of a series, calls, taking photos, messages, email and video calls. In fast charging is also located in the half with a charger of 30 W.
Xiaomi indicates that this allows cagarlo in 56 minutes, however, when we sent the phone was lacking this accessory, and we have not been able to perform the test to know how fast is your fast charging. We have carried out this work with a charger of 25 W of a Galaxy S20 Plus and 1 percent to 100 percent took 80 minutes (in the same test, the S20 Plus, 0 to 100, ran it in 70 minutes). With wireless charging, 30 W, My 10 full your battery is on 69 minutes, according to Xiaomi.
108 MP, macro mode and night subtle
And we come to the section in which we see the most novel: its quad camera add a mode in the menu to take pictures with a resolution of 108 megapixels. This is not the first time we see this resolution on a phone of Xiaomi (premiered at the Xiaomi Mi Note 19) and have also been added to another manufacturer, Samsung, in your device more powerful, Galaxy S20 Ultra. The main sensor of 108-megapixel camera is complemented with an ultra-wide 13-megapixel camera, depth sensor of 2-megapixel camera and macro lens 2 megapixel. The sensor of the front camera is of 20 megapixels. In the video, you record in 8K at 30 fps.
In our tests, we found that, when selecting the mode of 108 megapixels, the camera captures the colors in a natural way, as is seen in the reality. When taking pictures in normal mode, or standard, by contrast, enhances the tones (and embellishments). Any way, the level of detail is high and they are excellent. It also stressed its sensor to macro photography, it captures with precision the details. In the night mode adds a light, subtly and without forcing the brightness excessively.
Along the way conventional video, this model adds another mode for recording short videos (15 seconds, a perfect time to upload them to social networks). Portrait mode yes allows you to take selfies, with the possibility of doing that with a format landscape and give it a touch more artistic with default filters. In the mode of 108 megapixels and in the night, however, it is not possible to take autofotos. Apart from taking selfies when you click on the classic button that appears on the screen, offering two ways a lot more comfortable (with countdown): with a gesture of the hand and another one by clicking on the button on the right side of the volume adjustment.
MIUI 11, clear and simple
The latest Google operating systems, Android 10, Xiaomi customizes it with its own layer, MIUI 11. If you do not know this software, it is very likely that you will get used to it quickly to use it. Its orderly appearance pleases us and your use to us has been easy (for example, simplifies the functions menu Settings allowing access with one touch bluetooth and wifi and not through the section Connections). Brings everything you expect today (dark mode, well-being digital) and we have loved the tones of the alarm clock with nature sounds.
In the My 10 not missing the classic tools (clock, calculator, compass), in addition to recorder screen, voice recorder, scanner, and a to use the phone as a remote control or remote (My Remote).
The package of applications of Google is complemented with a number of third parties already pre-installed, specifically to five quite well-known: Amazon shopping, Facebook, Netflix, eBay, and LinkedIn. Clicking on the icon of My Picks you agree to a space that facilitates the discharge of the “Must-Have Apps”, and many more, classified by thematic areas (for this it is linked with the Play Store).
For 799 euros, you get a phone conservative, Xiaomi is not the play with experiments: a design elegant and discreet, a quality materials, a good camera, a powerful sound, a performance commensurate with its range and a quick charge is not the fastest but good if it takes that indicated by the manufacturer. Its price seems to us to be competitive if it is compared with their direct rivals (although you do not have proof IP68, something that is important to us in a mobile, especially high-end), but it is not groundbreaking, as we are accustomed this manufacturer.
What rivals are facing Xiaomi Mi 10? Also compatible with the connectivity 5G, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory, struggle in the high-end, less high with the Samsung Galaxy S20 (1,009 euros) and Huawei P40 (799 euros), the two with IP68. With 12 GB, and 256 GB, Oppo Find X2 will be sold (in may) for 999 euros (without IP68). And with a price that is very aggressive of 599 euros, realme X50 Pro 5G that also will come with IP68.
