Razer Blade 15 vs. MacBook Pro: looking for graphics power or process?

Without forgetting its focus on users, gamers, the Razer Blade 15 is intended to stand as an alternative that covers a larger segment, even taking away space portable more traditional, such as the MacBook Pro of Apple. We compare the Razer Blade 15 vs. MacBook Pro to assess if the graphical power of the first will be enough to defeat the performance of the processor of the high-end equipment from Apple.

Design

Razer Blade 15 vs. MacBook Pro

Generally, the hardware of the Razer resembles that of a MacBook painted black. However, that changed with the Blade 15, which has an aspect more square, but maintains the sleek lines and the low profile of their predecessors. The bezels of the screen are also reduced, but the upper side is larger, so that the web camera is already mounted in the usual place.

The MacBook Pro has, as usually, a design and working of silver paint that makes it very different to the aesthetics of Razer, although the choice of colour Space Grey resembles a little. However, it is also thinner and lighter than the Razer Blade 15.

Does not offer as much versatility in terms of ports. While some MacBook Pro’s have up to four ports Thunderbolt 3, all are USB-C, while in the computer from Razer, there is only a single USB-C Thunderbolt 3 and three USB ports-3.1, in addition to HDMI and Mini DisplayPort to connect external displays.

The keyboards are also remarkably different. If well are better than their predecessors, Apple is still in debt with its “butterfly”keyboard. Except for the unusual size of the arrow upwards, which caused some confusion, the Razer is the one that offers greater amenities.

The MacBook Pro has a bar touch as an alternative entrance, but also convinced us to use. Anyway, you can give you new capabilities with some practices of third-party applications.

Performance

Considering that one of these computers is designed for games and the other is not, it is not surprising that the Razer Blade 15 will be more powerful, even if the Pro is the best MacBook available.

The Razer Blade 15 entry level begins at $1,800 and includes a CPU Intel Core i7-8750H eighth-generation six-core with 16 GB of RAM. In addition, it has a graphics card Nvidia GTX 1060 Max-Q for its IPS monitor 1080p. There are alternatives with a GPU GTX 2080 Max-Q, a 1080p screen with 240Hz and 4K, but the prices can get up to $3,300 dollars. Anyway, you always have the possibility of expanding its capabilities with a GPU externally, using the enclosure of the external graphics Core V2 Razer.

The MacBook Pro 15, on the other hand, starts at $2,399 usd with a CPU Intel Core i7 six-core ninth-generation, 16 GB of RAM and a graphics processor Radeon Pro, 555X. Alternatively, you can choose a processor i9 and a graphics card Radeon Pro Vegas 20. While the CPU will overtake the i7-based Razer, the best graphics card of the MacBook will have no choice with the GTX 2080. One of the advantages of the MacBook is its display of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, which is standard for all versions. Does not support high refresh rates, which is not so relevant to a computer that is not geared to the games.

The MacBook also offers best alternative of storage. While the Blade 15 only provide a capacity of up to 512 GB PCIe, the MacBook Pro comes equipped with up to 4 TB of space on a solid state disk.

One of the classic problems with the laptops for gaming is that they are difficult to move. The Blade 15 is the best from Razer until now, but it is still heavier than the MacBook Pro. The Blade 15 measured 13.98 x 9.25 x 0.7 inches and weighs 4.63 pounds, compared to the 13.75 x 9.48 x 0.61 inches and 4.02 pounds of the Apple computer.

The Razer Blade has a battery of 80 watts per hour, but their hardware makes it less efficient than the alternative of Apple. Paid a little more than seven hours in our testing of loop video and a little less than four and a half hours on the web browsing. The 15-inch MacBook Pro, meanwhile, yields 10 hours of video playback and seven hours and 37 minutes on web browsing. Like the weight and the size, what you get with the Razer is impressive taking into account its internal hardware, but the MacBook Pro is still more portable.

The updates made by Apple in 2019 transformed the MacBook Pro 15 in a team much more capable. For example, your processor i9 of high-end outperforms the i7 Razer Blade, has a superb screen, a good battery life and a frame slightly lighter. That said, the model Razer Blade 15 is much more capable in terms graphics and has a better keyboard. The battery life and weight are not so different as to be significant factors at the time of making a decision.

Ultimately, what you choose will depend on the use that you go to give. If you run intensive tasks, with the processor, or do you prefer the operating system MacOS, you should choose the MacBook Pro. But the Razer Blade 15 is a better computer, especially when you consider its graphical power and its keyboard more comfortable.
