Pixar and Disney announce officially his new film: Luca

Although the coronavirus postponed the official premiere of the new Pixar film (Soul), the company is still working and this Thursday announced, via Twitter, the name of his next film, animated: Luca, that hit theaters in the summer american of 2021.

The tape will be directed by Enrico Casarosa, who will make his debut as a director of films in this project, but that has participated in memorable deliveries as Ratatouille, Up, Coco and Toy Story 4.

In fact, the film is inspired by summer adventures, which the director himself lived during his childhood in Italy.

Luca is developed in a beautiful coastal town on the Italian Riviera and is about a boy who lives an unforgettable summer filled with ice cream, pasta and a host of rides in the scooter. Luca shares these adventures with her newly-discovered best friend. But all the fun is threatened by a secret very deep: your friend is a sea monster that lives just below the surface of the water,” said Disney in a statement.

Although Enrico Casarosa not provided more details of the plot, described the film as a love letter to his own childhood in Italy and as a story where the friends that we do of children can become the most powerful of our lives.

“Childhood friendships often make the person into who we want to become, and it is these relationships that are at the heart of our story in Luca,” said Casarosa.

In addition Casarosa wrote and directed the short La Luna, which was nominated for the Award Oscar in 2012.

The film will be produced by Andrea Warren, who worked on Cars 3.

The study provided a tentative date for the release of Luca: June 18, 2021, but one can only hope that by next summer people will be able to return to cinemas in a safe manner.
