To MoviePass is not doing anything right, and to top it now has more competition. Two new names enter the court in the game of the underwriting business entries for cinemas: Infinity and Atom. The new services business models are slightly different, but both aim to grab a share of the market is sold by subscription tickets box office, joining MoviePass and its rivals, AMC Stubs A-List, Sinemia, and Cinemark Movie Club.
The service of Infinity, which is not be launched officially until the end of this year, it seems to be a copy more ambitious of MoviePass and Sinemia, with the sights set on the total domination of the box office. “Infinity points to join cinemas across the country under a programme of subscription common, thus offering its subscribers the opportunity to enter any film on the network, and claim your movie tickets,” explains the company in a press release.
Infinity will offer plans at the level of individual, couple and family, with the option of adding access to formats premium (such as 3D and IMAX) for a monthly fee additional. It is not yet known how much it will cost these plans or add-ons, and still, the company has not recorded any movie theater for their service.
Atom Tickets, a company that already has its own system of online ticket sales, is taking a different approach with its new service called Atom Movie Access. Instead of trying to run all the game of box office under their own brand, as MoviePass, is selling Atom Movie Access directly to the strings of the theater, in the form of a technological platform in which the cinema can create their own businesses, tickets digital.
“There are many regional circuits smaller than they’d like to have subscription plans, but don’t have the technology to build them for themselves,” said the co-founder of Atom Tickets, Matthew Bakal, to Variety. “That’s where we come in”.
The supply of Atom will give film lovers a variety of options, such as the reservation of seats, the sending of invitations to friends, the prepaid card for popcorn and drinks, and admissions based apps that can be accessed on smart phones. However, Atom Movie Access is still giving the first steps, and as that Infinity, yet there has been no cinema in the platform.
