How to redeem a code on your PS4: explained step-by-step

If you’ve just opened a PlayStation 4 and you want to redeem a code, you should know that Sony uses up to 12 digits in order to distribute the access prepaid to all of its services from games, DLC, movies, memberships and even credit for the PlayStation store Network. You’ll be able to access are games and a trial membership to the service PlayStation Plus, in addition to a trial version of PS Now or a card with funds to load to your account. Fortunately, redeem codes on the PSN is painless, and there are several ways to do it. We show below how to redeem a code on your PS4.

Redeem your codes on a PS4

Step 1: open the PlayStation Store.

Step 2: scroll to the bottom of the page, and choose “Redeem codes”.

Step 3: press X to open an on-screen keyboard.

Step 4: enter the 12 digit code. Only numbers and letters; without adding scripts. And don’t worry about the distinction between uppercase and lowercase letters.

Step 5: press R2 or click “Ready” when you’ve finished the process.

Step 6: press “Continue”.

Step 7: click “Confirm” to finish redeeming the content that is displayed on the left side of the screen.

Step 8: on the next screen, you can download your new content (if applicable).

Redeem your codes on the web

Step 1: go to the home page of PlayStation.

Step 2: click on Start session, which is located in the upper right corner. Enter your email address and password associated with your account of PlayStation.

Step 3: then, click on your profile photo to open a drop-down menu.

Step 4: from here, click on Redeem codes. This option will lead you to a new page that looks like the section on PS Store that is in one’s own PS4.

Step 5: enter the 12 digit code. If your PlayStation 4 is turned on, you can initiate the download directly from a PC. Otherwise, you’ll be able to access the new content the next time you turn on your console.

Redeem your codes with application PlayStation

The official application for mobile phones of the console –which is available for operating systems iOS and Android–also allows you to redeem codes for your PS4. If you want to download it, is free in both Google Play and in the App Store. Once you’ve downloaded and activated, tap the logo of PlayStation, which appears in the bottom center of the screen.

You’ll find three rows of options of icons, where the alternative to Redeem codes is located four places to the left, in the top row.

There is an important advantage of the redeem codes in the application: in reality you don’t have to write it, because you just use the camera of your cell phone you can place the code within the window in the center of the image frame. The application will detect it immediately and insert the data.

However, if you do not want to use your camera (or you have problems to capture the code due to the lighting), you can still write it manually.
