At the end of 2017, presented the Echo Plus, which allowed you to control a smart home much more easily, but in October of 2018 launched the second generation of this device. How do they compare to Amazon Echo Plus 1 vs. Echo Plus 2?

The Echo Plus first generation has the center administration Zigbee built-in, this means, that you don’t need a separate device, like the Samsung SmartThingsto control your smart home. This is one of the attributes that is maintained in the second version, and that distinguishes this series from other devices Echo Amazon.

If you are thinking of buying a horn smart or if you use an Echo Plus first generation, in this guide we will explain to you the differences between Amazon Eho Plus 1 vs. Echo Plus 2 to help you decide what to buy, or whether it’s worthwhile to change your current speaker.

Amazon Echo Plus 1 vs. Echo Plus 2

Sound Design Features Price
Echo Plus (first generation) 2.5-inch woofer, 0.8-inch tweeter Surface of hard plastic, 9.2″ x 3.3″ x 3.3″ Does not have temperature sensor $80-$150 dollars

Amazon received criticism from users for the poor sound quality of the first generation of Echo Plus. It has a subwoofer of 2.5 inches and a tweeter of 0.8 inches. If you compare it with the Echo original, that has a woofer of 2.5 inches (with a port mirror to reduce the distortion of the sound) and a tweeter 2-inch, the Plus offers a less quality of sound. Many customers argue that the first generation Plus does not have treble clear and crisp, and the bass is not powerful enough.

The Echo Plus of the second generation, increased the volume back, and a subwoofer bigger than 3 inches. Although he kept the tweeter of 0.8 inches as its predecessor, this combination offers a better quality: bass sounds louder, mid tones and high sharp.

Devices Echo Plus first-and second-generation allow you to adjust the treble and the bass with your voice. Both also have an audio output jack of 3.5 mm, so that you can also connect a speaker more powerful in case you want to.

In terms of design, the Amazon Echo Plus 1 vs. Echo Plus 2 have significant changes. The first generation seems a lot like the Echo original. It is cylindrical, 9.2-inch high and 3.3 inch in diameter (23.3 and 8.3 cm, respectively). It has the same blue ring around the top and a disk of volume around the top edge. It has two buttons on top: one of action and another to turn the microphone off. Its surface hard plastic comes in colors black, white, or silver. The first generation of the Echo Plus is not the device more attractive, but neither is at the level of say “hide it in the corner because it is horribly ugly“. It is probably somewhere in the middle.

The Echo Plus second generation is a little more eye-catching. It is more short and wide than its predecessor, measuring less than 6 inches high and about 4 inches wide (15 and 10 cm, respectively). It looks more like a horn than the Sonos One. In fact, neither you could guess at first sight that it is a speaker, smart home, given the surface of the fabric on the outside. Keeps the blue ring at the top and has four buttons: volume up, lower it, trigger actions, and to turn off the microphone. The Plus of the second generation comes in grey marl, coal, or sandstone.

The Echo Plus has the same characteristics as Alexa other devices to Echo more recent. However, the big difference is the hub Zigbee Echo Plus. This will allow you to configure your smart home easily and efficiently, without the need to buy a centre additional to obtain a greater functionality. To configure supported devices for your smart home you will only have to say “Alexa, look for my devices“, and the Echo Plus will automatically find and configure these devices.

If you use a device to Echo (not a Plus), you’ll be able to use the skills of Alexa to perform some basic functions with the smart devices compatible. You’ll even be able to establish routines for the products in your smart home to work in a synchronized way. However, the Echo Plus will allow you to do much more thanks to the Zigbee Hub built-in.

One of the biggest differences between Amazon Echo Plus 1 vs. Echo Plus 2 is that the latter has a temperature sensor. This allows you to command more advanced related to the temperature of your home. For example, you could have the fan turn on when the temperature reaches 75 degrees.

Because it has a hub built in, the Echo Plus is also compatible with the new function of voice control which is local to Alexa. This means that if for some reason you have no access to the Internet, the control of local voice will allow you to remain in control of the lights, outlets and switches smart.
